The planning stage of the Bethel High School began in March 1976 when Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Nita Williams Anderson returned  to St. Vincent and the Grenadines from the U.S.A where they lived for 9 years.
Mrs. Anderson, a retired teacher, became very concerned about primary school children between 14yrs and 17yrs who were unable to read, write or spell and who were still attending school. She thought she might be able to help some of them.  She brought the matter to the S.D.A pastor and church board. It was discussed and proposal was put forward that a primary school should be put in place. However, there was the
problem of finding a location for the school.  It was decided to start it within the church presbetery temporarily.
Next Sunday morning, the Andersons went canvassing for students and teachers. They went to Green Hill, Sion Hill, Old Montrose, Redemption Sharpes and Frenches. They were able to get 41 student names and 2 teachers.
On the first Monday of April, 1976, 4 teachers including Mrs. Nita Anderson, the headteacher, and 41 students attended service at the Kingstown S.D.A Church Presbetery.  After service, the teachers were given their assignments and the school was on its way.

beginnings

Everything went well for the first semester.  Students received inspiration and were making strides so that at the end of the school year  the area was outgrown and was encroaching on the rest of the church.  Enrollment was now 150.  Notification was given to seek space elsewhere.
The Andersons rebuilt the Old Montrose Church (Maranatha S.D.A) to accommodate the children. After one year the enrollment grew to 300 which included a Form 1 in the same building. Again the building lacked adequate space to house all the students.
Mr. and Mrs. Anderson had to sell their home, be satisfied with renting, inorder to purchase 15000 sf of land at Victoria Park Rd to start a new school building. The first floor was constructed.  This was the birth of the Bethel High School.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Nita Anderson died on 24th April 1979 and there was the decision to close the school.  At an emergency P.T.A meeting, the parents argued that if their children were to attend other schools the christian principle will be lost, so they decided to make a greater sacrifice to maintain the school.

beginnings

Mrs. Stevens, the pastor's wife from Jamaica, was the first headteacher.  Brother Alphonso Lewis, of Richland Park, was the 2nd teacher and Brother Anderson filled in when there was no official headteacher.  The second floor of the school was added to
accommodate all 360 students.  Later the school was transferred to Campden Park with Ormond Williams as the Principal.  Today the school stands in all its glory at its present location at Campden Park.
